Dormaa Central Member of Parliament (MP), John Jack says the government should ensure that individuals behind illegal mining activities in forest reserves are held responsible.

He mentioned this during a panel discussion with Saddick Adams on the Angel Morning Show on Monday February 3, 2025, that the youth employed at various mining sites were hired by some pioneers.

He highlighted that, they are being paid on daily basis who come and go. “ We will track and arrest the leaders behind them.” He stated that was “We are not in for those that have been sent just for their chop money or daily bread.”

He expressed that, if those working on the mining sites are being arrested and those who employed them are not traced they will surely get people to employ by day as long a the day breaks.

He further pointed out that, “Use them as contacts to get who ever is behind them” he said. “ We will track and bring all those people who brought that concession on the water bodies for the people mine on board.”

John Jack articulated that, if they are not stopped by authorities now, “we will leave the surface of this earth by 45years from now but the future generations will get huge problem.”

“We have to come together as group of Ghanaians and not political party to avert that kind of conduct,” he stressed.
