Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has lifted the suspension order against four Members of Parliament (MPs) following a brawl during the ministerial vetting on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Following the incident, which drew public scrutiny, the Speaker handed the MPs a two-week suspension from parliamentary duties.
The suspended MPs included Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, and Jerry Ahmed Shaib.
However, an application from the Minority, and seconded by the Majority on Tuesday, February 4, led the Speaker to lift the suspension.
“So I have lifted the suspension order. I do so instantly, and it takes effect immediately. The affected Honorable Members are now permitted to enter the precincts of the House. I must say they actually complied with the orders,” the Speaker said in his pronouncement.
This means the four MPs can now resume their parliamentary duties without restrictions.
