A police manhunt has been launched in the Wasa Ateiku District of the Western Region for one Kwasi Botwey, a suspect in his late 30s, accused of killing his girlfriend, Akua Daboa, and inflicting severe cutlass wounds on his rival.
The incident occurred at Wasa Hemanso in the Wasa Ateiku District, where Botwey allegedly confronted his girlfriend, Akua Daboa, now deceased, with a cutlass around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, Akua Daboa attempted to defend herself with a frying pan, which struck Botwey on the head, causing a minor injury.
Recounting the incident, Nana Fynn of Angel News indicated that during the struggle, Kobii, the rival, now also deceased intervened in an attempt to separate them, but he was severely injured by Botwey, losing his hand in the process.
The altercation attracted the attention of passersby, who rushed to the scene to assist. Residents of the area managed to arrest Botwey and handed him over to the police at Wasa Ateiku.
However, in a shocking turn of events, the police released Botwey without explanation. He then returned to the scene, butchered Daboa to death, and fled.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter and continue their search for Botwey, assuring the public that they are committed to apprehending the suspect and bringing him to justice.
