A member of the communication team for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has stated that she would prefer to engage in pineapple business rather than contest a Member of Parliament (MP) position in the country.

During a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Ama noted that the incidents that occurred during the vetting process have devalued Ghana’s parliament; however, she does not understand the purpose of contesting for an MP position in the country.

According to her, she would rather choose to run a pineapple business than contest for an MP position. She explained that she did not expect the house to exhibit this behavior, which she sees as a sign of disrespect toward Ghanaians.

“I would rather open a pineapple factory than contest as an MP in the country. I will always have challenges with parliament; the incident that happened there was not the first time. Some do not have an interest in going to parliament, and the money involved could fund a pineapple factory, which can create job opportunities for the youth in the country,” she stated.

She further added that this would allow her to invest more in herself than to contest as an MP in Ghana because parliamentarians in the country have disappointed and disrespected their people.
