NDC labels Annoh Dompreh a ‘nuisance and embarrassment’ to Ghana’s Parliament

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Bureau in Nsawam-Adoagyiri has described the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Frank Annoh Dompreh, as a “nuisance and an embarrassment” to Ghana’s Parliament and his constituents.

In a statement released on February 7, 2025, the NDC accused the MP of repeatedly attracting negative media attention due to his conduct, which they claim has worsened since his tenure in the 7th Parliament and deteriorated further during the current 8th Parliament.

The NDC alleged that Annoh Dompreh led a violent attack on their MPs during the election of Speaker Alban Sumana Bagbin and unlawfully forced his way into the parliamentary chamber to claim majority seats contrary to established procedures. They described these actions as indicative of a “lawless personality.”

Additionally, the statement claimed that the MP had allegedly bused “hooligans” from Nsawam-Adoagyiri to cause chaos in Parliament. The NDC further accused Dompreh and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of contributing to environmental degradation through illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey.

The statement read: “Our dishonorable Frank Annoh Dompreh was a nuisance to Parliament for leading violent attacks on NDC MPs, breaking parliamentary rules, bringing chaos-makers to Parliament, and showing no remorse for environmental destruction through galamsey.”

These accusations come amid increasing calls for parliamentary decorum and accountability from both political parties and the public.

As Ghana continues to grapple with concerns over legislative integrity and environmental protection, stakeholders are urging political leaders to engage in constructive dialogue and uphold national interests to foster unity and responsible governance.
