Former Ghana Premier League (GPL) Golden Boot winner, Abednego Tetteh, has resigned from Heart of Lions following his criticism of the country’s topflight football.
The prolific goal poacher announced that his services with the Kpando-based outfit come to an end with immediate effect.
The former Bechem United and Accra Hearts of Oak striker took the decision following recently sparked controversy by advocating the cancellation of the 2024/25 GPL season and accusing the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of incompetence in the league’s management.
Tetteh’s comments were in the wake of putting the league on halt after the stabbing of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, known as ‘Nana Pooley,’ during a league fixture in Nsoatre.
In a letter sighted on social media, the player asked Hearts of Lions to “Accept this letter as a formal notice of my retirement from Heart of Lions.”
