President Mahama makes major shake up in Ghana Armed Forces

President John Dramani Mahama has made major shake up in the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), pending consultation with the Council of State.

The new changes include the appointment of a new Acting Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier General William Agyapong.

The rest; Acting Chief of Army Staff – Brigadier General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, Acting Chief of Naval Staff – Commodore Godwin Livinus Bessing, Acting Chief of Air Staff – Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong and Acting Chief of Staff – Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Presidential Spokesperson and Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Monday, March 17.

He confirmed that their appointments will take effect from March 24, 2025.
