Communications Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has deepened the woes of the immediate past Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, following his sacking by President John Dramani Mahama.
Madam Ama Daaku indicated that Dr. Dampare’s dismissal was justified because he was incompetent in the last three months before his removal.
Sharing her opinion after the President’s decision, the NPP communicator questioned the former IGP’s handling of the 2024 post-election disturbances, which led to the destruction of state properties, raising concerns about his competence.
“When people started going around the country destroying properties, as police head you were in this country, you and your people, what did you do about it? After doing all these, do you expect the new president to have trust in you and give you the mandate?” she quizzed.
She further remarked, “If you wanted us to know you wanted to help Ghana and not pursue your own prerogative interests, not just that, but also maintain your position after the election, you should’ve arrested those involved in the chaos as police head.”
According to her, she would have been surprised if the President had retained Dampare in office.
