President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has today 21st March, 2025, visited the Adum fire outbreak scene.

Speaking to the media, President Mahama said he has directed the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to provide immediate support to the victims.

He added that he will consult the Chief of Staff to explore further assistance for the victims.

He has also instructed the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, to compile a list of all those affected and assess the extent of the damage.

“The minister and the traders will discuss the situation. We have asked NADMO to assess the damage and provide support. We will also consult the Chief of Staff, and based on the conclusion between the minister and the traders, we will determine how best to assist them so they can find relief,” he said.

President Mahama noted that firefighters struggled to access the scene, which made it difficult to control the fire.

He emphasized that many markets in Ghana face similar challenges, making it hard for firefighters to respond quickly when fires break out.

“Most of our markets have the same issue. When there is a fire outbreak, accessing the scene to put it out quickly becomes a challenge. We must learn from this and plan our markets better to address such emergencies effectively,” he stated.
