A deeply concerning trend has emerged in Ghana, where individuals are being defrauded by agents masquerading as representatives of Qnet, an e-commerce company.

These unscrupulous agents are employing deceptive job offers and investment opportunities to ensnare unsuspecting victims, frequently targeting those in remote areas across the region.

Emmanuel, a victim hailing from the Central Region, recounted his harrowing experience on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) during an interview with Saddick Addams on Thursday, 10 April 2025.

He described how he was convinced by a childhood friend to invest in a fictitious job opportunity in Canada, which allegedly required a background in pharmaceuticals.

According to Emmanuel, he paid a staggering Ghc4,000.00 for forged documents and made the journey to Côte d’Ivoire, only to realise that he had been ensnared in a scam.

He highlighted that victims are often sent to camps in Côte d’Ivoire, where they are subjected to appalling conditions.

Emmanuel revealed a particularly tragic incident; one individual, a Voltaian, succumbed to starvation at the camp.

The recruiters supposedly concealed the death, deceitfully claiming that the person was simply missing.

“Someone died at the camp because of hunger. The person is Voltaian; the recruiters covered up the death, buried the body, and lied about the whereabouts of that person,” he stated.
