Thirteen excavators have been confiscated from the Krokosue Hill forest reserve in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region, as part of the government’s concerted efforts to combat illegal activities.
The Juaboso Forest Division Manager, Horatius Kofi Asano, in a joint operation with the military from the national headquarters, successfully arrested and confiscated these excavators due to the alarming depletion of the forest reserve.
Mr. Kofi Asano expressed deep concerns about the state of the forest, particularly the Krokosue Hills, which is recognised as the largest reserve in the area.
He Asano indicated that the seized excavators have been securely parked at the Juaboso District Assembly premises.
“Those in our forest are actually worrying us, so since they (military) came here, we’ve been able to seize thirteen excavators.
“You could see them as you’re coming from the Assembly; you’ll notice the excavators parked there. Now the excavators are in the hands of the government,” he stated.
The Division Manager further disclosed that the thugs who had been harassing the forest guards have been removed from the area.
According to Mr. Kofi Asano, the presence of the military has provided them with the necessary strength to combat illegal activities within the reserves.
Meanwhile, he appealed to residents living near the forest reserves to support their efforts in protecting this vital natural resource.
