Olivetheboy has addressed the controversy surrounding his hit song “Asylum,” which sparked heated debates among fans and critics alike.
In a recent interview, Olivetheboy revealed that he was initially scared about releasing “Asylum” due to its bold and unapologetic lyrics.
“I was a bit scared when I dropped the song because of the content, people came to me telling me it’s toxic, so I was thinking Is it going to do good,?”
However, he said he realized that his song was tapping into something deeper and people talked about it.
“I realized that people have things to say, but they just can’t say it, I give them the confidence to do that by just singing.
“The song’s lyrics, particularly the line; If you leave me, ego over you, Asylum go be your best friend,
have been criticized for their harshness, yet I deliberately risk in releasing the song,” he mentioned.
