The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has issued a compliance notice to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Greater Accra Region to remove outdoor advertising billboards erected on pedestrian and vehicular footbridges within their jurisdiction.

The NRSA stated that their directive aligns with the non-compliance with the Services-Advertising Specification for Outdoor Signs (GS:847:2019), which stipulates, among other provisions, that “the primary and sole function of road or bridge arches/gantries shall be for the purpose of traffic management.”

In a statement, the NRSA said the directive will be enforceable after twenty-one (21) days and is intended to improve road safety on various road networks by eliminating visual distractions
