Roselyn Mantey, the Ghanaian makeup artist who set a new Guinness World Record for the longest makeup application marathon, recently opened up about her inspiring journey.
In an inspiring interview with actress Nayas on Angel TV, Roselyn shared her passion for makeup and her ambitious attempt at the GWR for the longest makeup application.
Roselyn revealed that her journey began after Afua Asantewaa’s singing marathon, which showcased Ghanaian music to the world.
“If Afua can promote Ghanaian music, why can’t I promote our makeup industry?” Roselyn stated.
She also mentioned that despite her initial attempt not qualifying, a friend encouraged her to reapply, citing her extensive experience in makeup.
“A friend who saw Afua Asantewaa’s singing marathon told me I should reapply and see if I can qualify this time around because makeup is something I’ve been doing for long and I do for a lot of people for in a day,” she mentioned.
According to Roselyn, she saw an opportunity to highlight Ghana’s thriving makeup scene and its talented manufacturers.
“I want to tell the world we have something special here, with determination and creativity, I am ready to take on the challenge and promote our own, that’s why I joined this marathon,” she explained.
