The Mayor of Kumasi, Akwasi Ofori Agyemang, has warned traders within the Kumasi Metropolis to cease trading in unauthorised areas between the dual roads.

During a recent press conference, he announced that traders operating in these unauthorised areas, particularly between the dual roads, will face severe consequences.

Meanwhile, he threatened to lash any individual found guilty of conducting business in these prohibited zones.

“I will not say I am going to bring police to come and stand there. I asked you to leave, and you refused to comply. If I have to call the police to arrest you, you’ll defend yourself; no, I will not do that.

“What I will do is, when I come there, I will not come alone; I will come with friends.

“When we arrive and you are still standing there, despite the grace period we have given you to prepare yourself and vacate, and you are not comfortable.”

“As for that spot where you’re standing, we will be there to ensure compliance.”

“I will lash you. I am praying it does not come to that, but if you push me, you will hear from me. So I plead with you, when we say we should leave the place, let us comply,” Mr. Ofori warned.

The Mayor further urged traders not to take the law into their own hands by continuing to operate in unauthorised areas, highlighting the importance of adhering to the regulations for the betterment of the community.
