Kumasi Metropolis: Stray cattle to be used to feed inmates effective May 1

The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolis, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has set May 1, 2025, as an ultimatum for all cattle rearers in the area, warning them against allowing their cattle to roam freely on the streets and cause a nuisance.

He stated that after April, stray cattle found causing a nuisance in the city will be seized, slaughtered, and used to feed inmates at the Kumasi Central Prison.

Reiterating his decision on Kumasi-based Oyerpa FM, monitored by this portal, Mr. Ofori Agyemang Boadi expressed growing concerns about the nuisance and disruptions caused by stray cattle left unchecked by their owners.

According to him, the defecation by stray cattle has made the metropolis unhealthy. However, he is determined to eradicate the menace in his quest to support efforts to make the environment clean for the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“When a visitor on board a plane lands at this beautiful Kumasi Airport and decides to go see the Asantehene at Manhyia, once the person gets to the airport roundabout, all they see is faeces. So I have vowed that I will not allow cattle to take over the KMA territory anymore.”

“I have given an ultimatum until May 1, and if you allow your cattle to stray in the vicinity, it will be seized, killed, and given to Kumasi Central Prison for food,” he stated.

When asked if his mode of operation was too harsh, the KMA boss retorted and indicated otherwise, noting that his initiative will help to sanitize the metropolis.
