A sanitation advocacy group, Crusaders of Change Ghana, embarked on a clean-up exercise over the weekend in parts of the Ga Central Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.

The exercise, held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, saw the group tidy up the Chantan Market and its surroundings.

They were joined by assembly members from all 12 electoral areas in Ga Central, as well as traders from the Chantan Market.

Crusaders of Change Ghana, known for its sanitation advocacy, indicated that the move formed part of its plans to improve sanitation in various communities.

They also aimed to drive development initiatives with the support of the Ga Central Municipal Assembly.

Group leader Owusu Appiah further noted that, as the country approaches the rainy season, it is crucial to clean out choked gutters to allow for the easy flow of floodwaters.

“As we are heading towards the rainy season, it is important to desilt the chocked gutters to make the free flow when it rains. This is a call to nation building and I must say, the spirit and patriotism is coming back indeed as I have been advocating this for quite sometime now,” he said.

In his call for public support, he emphasized how essential sanitation has become to public health.

“Together, let’s build cleaner, greener and more equitable societies for our next future generations,” Mr. Owusu stated.
