Ghanaian actor, Liwin has issued a stern warning to TV stations in Ghana, cautioning them against showing his movies without permission or payment.
In a statement, he expressed frustration that local TV stations prioritize foreign content over Ghanaian productions, despite the abundance of local talent and series.
He emphasized that if TV stations can afford to purchase and air foreign movies and telenovelas, they should be willing to pay for Ghanaian content as well.
“This warning goes to all tv stations in Ghana and CEO’s who have stations in Ghana, you are able to have money to buy telenovela’s from other countries to show on the TV for people to watch while we have a lot of Ghanaian TV series but you people don’t even show them but rather be showing movies from other countries and be showing on Ghanaian TV’s.
“Therefore, I’m warning anyone who shows my movies on TV without making any payments to me because if you’re able to buy movies outside the country to show on the TV then my movies shouldn’t be shown without payments and no one should take any of my movies from any social media platforms,” he emphasized.
He also warned that any TV station found airing his movies without payment will face consequences, including being charged double the usual rate if they attempt to purchase the rights afterward.
He also urged TV stations to refrain from taking his movies from social media platforms without permission.
“I will charge double of the amount if you want to buy my movies cause instead of buying Ghanaian movies and showing them for Ghana movies to move forward and earn us more money you rather supporting other countries movies,” he said
