The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wuntumi, has asserted that Ghana is not safe under the current administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on Wuntumi TV on Monday, May 5, 2025, Chairman Wuntumi claimed that while President Mahama is regarded as the father of the nation, he does not anticipate that the president will petition Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
He expressed concern that the president is facing discrimination and does not appear to value the contributions of NPP members.
He pointed out that during the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, there was no petition filed against former Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood, who had been appointed by the PNDC government under former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Chairman Wuntumi expressed bewilderment at why President Mahama is attempting to remove the Chief Justice, especially considering that he swore her in during his inauguration.
According to him, the prevailing sentiment is that Ghana is not secure under President Mahama’s governance.
“President Mahama, where you’re taking us, what Ghanaians are expecting from you is that we come together; we have something called cooperation.
“Whether you like it or not, if it is the NPP, we now need cooperation and discipline is what Ghanaians need now. Ghana is not safe under Mahama’s administration,” he claimed.
