A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP ), Ernest Owusu Bempah-Bonsu  has defended the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi’s generous gesture towards Agradaa, stating that he has committed no offence.

Speaking in a phone-in interview on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, he objected the Minority Caucus in Parliament’s demand for Sammy Gyamfi head, indicating that such situation could happen to anyone.

“We have to be very careful how we attack our opponents in terms of how we politicians do our things,” he said.

He added that, such situation happens everywhere, especially with politicians who travel to their various constituencies and other places, and end up giving out money to people who ask them for. He described this scenario as no exception of Mr. Gyamfi’s gesture.

“Everybody is a victim of this situation, unless we are not being honest to ourselves”, he stated.

However, he assured that, if there is an evidence that Sammy Gyamfi has taken money from GoldBod and spending it lavishly as people are claiming, then he will lead a demonstration against him so that he will be prosecuted.

Mr. Bempah emphasized that his views on the matter were only based on facts and principles; therefore the NPP’s assertion that he is on the side of their opponent should be ignored.

“Only the wise understands the wise. I am a very principled person, I share my thoughts on principles,” he voiced out.

He threatened to expose some hidden deeds of the NPP if they dare him by name-calling and attempt to silence him on the issue at hand.
