Police investigate shooting of Fulani herdsmen in Nkawkaw

The Eastern Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into a deadly shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Nkawkaw Zongo, which claimed the lives of three Fulani herdsmen and left one other critically injured.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the early evening in the presence of some traders and passersby.

Angel News reporter, Oheneba Siaw, in a detailed account, reported that the victims, who were engaged in a beef business (cattle meat), had returned from the market after conducting their usual business on the fateful day.

While they were relaxing and counting the gains of the day in a kiosk, where they normally resided, which is believed to be owned by one of the victims, three unidentified gunmen on a motorbike arrived and opened fire indiscriminately.

According to Siaw’s report, during the attack, one of the masked gunmen approached the kiosk and fired additional close-range shots. The attack resulted in the death of three victims, while one sustained critical injuries.

He added that the assailants fled the scene on their motorbike immediately after the shooting. The motive behind the attack is currently unknown.

The deceased have since been deposited at the morgue, and the injured person is receiving treatment at the hospital.

Police have since intensified security in the area and launched a full-scale investigation in an effort to track and arrest the perpetrators.
