The Vice President of Ghana, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, returned to Ghana today, May 22, 2025, from London, United Kingdom, where she went for medical treatment.

She was welcomed at the airport by President John Dramani Mahama, First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, the Vice President’s Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia, and other senior government officials.

Also present at the airport were the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church and some of the Vice President’s family members.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is reported to have fallen ill on Friday, March 28, 2025, and was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the next day for treatment.

Acting on medical advice, she began a three-week medical leave on April 7 and traveled abroad for further care as a precaution.

In her brief remarks, the Vice President thanked Ghanaians for their prayers, expressed appreciation to her doctors and the medical staff at the UGMC, and praised President Mahama and his younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama, for their support, kindness, and care.
