The Management of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has warned the general public, to be vigilant about fraudulent activities linked to its Secretariat under the pretext of awarding scholarships.
This follows attempts by some unscrupulous individuals who are fraudulently using the Fund’s name to solicit and extort money from unsuspecting members of the public, falsely promising scholarship placements.
GETFund is hereby advising the public against this fraudulent act, as it does not charge any fees at any stage of its scholarship application or award process.
“No individual or organization has been authorized by the Fund to collect money on its behalf for any purpose related to scholarship awards. These fraudulent claims are entirely false and should be disregarded.”
The public is strongly encouraged to treat any such solicitation as a scam and to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate security agencies or directly to the GETFund Secretariat.
According to GETFund, its Secretariat will not be held liable for any losses incurred as a result of engaging with these fraudulent actors if individuals fail to comply with this caution.
“We remain committed to transparency, fairness, and integrity in all our operations,” a statement issued by the management of GETFund stated.
