President John Dramani Mahama has praised businesses that have reduced the prices of goods and services following the recent appreciation of the cedi.
He is urging other businesses to follow suit and help bring relief to Ghanaians.
Speaking at the Ghana CEO Summit at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, the President said he is hopeful about Ghana’s recovery and the country’s path to becoming an upper middle-income nation.
He also said he is committed to keeping government spending in check and creating a good environment for businesses to grow.
President Mahama ended his speech by sharing his hope for a prosperous, inclusive, and secure future for Ghana.
“On government’s part, I wish to assure you that we will maintain the current fiscal discipline and work to maintain a conducive environment for your businesses to thrive”
“Let me take the opportunity to commend those of you who have responded to the cedis appreciation by reducing prices of your products and services and then by passing some of the relief from the hardship to Ghanaians”
He therefore urged those who have not yet reduced their prices to pass on the cedi’s appreciation to Ghanaians.
“And so for those of you who have not responded yet, please, pass on some of the cedi appreciation to Ghanaians”
