The University of Ghana has denied authoring a letter that has gone viral concerning the degree verification of the acting CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale.
The alleged letter, dated June 2, 2025, was supposedly issued by the university’s Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, and addressed to the Civil Service Council.
According to the contents of the letter, although Mr. Basintale was admitted to the university in 2014, he did not fulfil the academic requirements necessary for graduation.

However, in a disclaimer, the institution refuted the claim and stated that the purported letter was “a forgery and neither the Registrar nor any other officer of the University has received, processed or responded to any such request.”
