Hypocrite OSP working to please paymasters – Kade MP

Must Read

The Member of Parliament for Kade, Alexander Agyare, says the conduct of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng, appears to be a calculated effort to safeguard his job rather than serve the public interest.

According to the MP, the contrasting track record of the OSP during the former Akufo-Addo New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration and under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government raises serious concerns about the office’s impartiality.

Mr. Agyare described the OSP’s approach as “purely hypocritical,” accusing the office of deviating from its core mandate in an attempt to please political paymasters.

“What I am saying is that Kissi Agyebeng wasn’t appointed into office recently. His behavior is strange and new to Ghanaians. Was he engaged in such frequent public addresses under the NPP? How many times did he hold press conferences or briefings then, and how many has he held just this year? You have to understand my point.”

He continued “Again, contrast and compare the cases he handled over the past three to four years he’s been in office with what he’s done in just the last five months. It clearly shows that he just wants to safeguard his job. There are many people who prioritize their personal interests in the line of duty, but I think the office given to him is crucial to Ghana’s progress. So we expect him to help not give us these lamentations.”

The MP further questioned the credibility of the OSP’s current posture:

“Is the OSP trying to paint a picture that, after all the four years he has spent, he is only now beginning to work? Are they saying he didn’t discover any corruption cases before?

“You see, I don’t support any individual embezzling state funds because those funds belong to the people. But what I don’t like is someone who is a hypocrite,” says the Kade MP.
