The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has arrested several current and former officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), and the Public Procurement Authority (PPA).

The arrests are in connection with suspected corruption and related offences linked to revenue assurance contracts between GRA and SML.

In a detailed notice by the OSP, some of these individuals arrested have been detained, while others have been granted bail.

Former Commissioner-General of GRA, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah; Isaac Crentsil – former Commissioner of Customs, now General Manager at SML; and Christian Tetteh Sottie – former Technical Advisor at GRA, now Managing Director of SML, have all been detained.

However, three others who failed to meet bail conditions last night and were later granted bail have also been placed under arrest.

They are: Evans Adusei – CEO of SML, Philip Mensah – former Deputy Commissioner (Legal) at GRA, now Legal Consultant to SML, Kofi Nti – former Commissioner-General of GRA. The other person on list is Joseph Kuruk and Faustina Adjorkor – officials of the Public Procurement Authority.

According to the OSP, its investigation is “examining the legality, procurement process, and financial impact of the contracts awarded to SML.”

This includes the company’s claims of generating significant revenue savings for the state.
