‘I am still waiting for Gizzelle Yadji’s twins’ – Kufour

Senior communications team member of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has accused former President John Agyekum Kufuor of contributing to the current collapse of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, the former President remained silent for years while the party was in government, despite mounting concerns about its direction.

Mr. Owusu made the comment after Mr. Kufuor voiced disappointment over what he described as neglect and exclusion by the party he once led to a historic two-term victory.

“If this party still has elders… I am one. Have I deteriorated to the point where, after being fed, I’d claim I haven’t eaten? No, I haven’t reached that stage yet. My mind and memory are intact.

I’ve been quiet, but make no mistake, I’ve been watching. Closely. The least the party can do… is keep me informed. Let me hear what’s happening. And now… I’m being sidelined? Ignored? I don’t understand it. I really don’t,” he said in a reflective conversation with Abetifi MP and flagbearer hopeful Bryan Acheampong.

Responding to the matter, Mr. Owusu dismissed the former statesman’s claims of exclusion, asserting that Kufuor has played a significant role in the party’s decline.

“I don’t sympathize with former President John Agyekum Kufuor a bit. No! why would I had sympathy for him. He is part of the reason why the NPP has collapsed in its current state,” he stated without mincing words.

He supported his claim with an adage: a leader who sits idle while children consume a python is equally culpable.

Mr. Owusu linked the proverb to what he described as Kufuor’s lack of concern during former President Akufo-Addo’s tenure, a period he believes led the party into its current crisis.

“All these years that Akufo-Addo was collapsing the party, did you ever hear him [Kufuor] even coughing to express concern? Then why now?

“If he didn’t see Akufo-Addo’s actions as collapsing the party, then he should let it be the same,” he added.
