President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing water challenges in the Savannah Region, declaring the completion and expansion of the Damongo Water Supply Project as his top development priority.

Speaking during a courtesy call by the Yagbonwura at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, president Mahama said his interactions with residents across various communities, from Bole to Daboya, Damongo to Salaga, revealed a consistent call for basic necessities such as clean water, jobs, schools, and better infrastructure.

“In every community from Bole to Daboya, from Damongo to Salaga, I heard the same calls for infrastructure, for water, for jobs, for schools, and economic opportunity,” he noted.

Mr. Mahama stressed that among all the concerns raised, water security stood out as the most urgent.

He described the lack of potable water in many parts of the region as unacceptable in the 21st century.

“Of course, the one and most important is the issue of water security. The urgent completion and expansion of the Damongo Water Supply Project remains my number one priority,” he stated.

He assured residents that his government would move swiftly to ensure the sustainable delivery of clean water not only to Damongo but also to nearby communities including Larabanga, Kanteen, and Bunsunu.

“The hardship faced by residents due to lack of potable water is unacceptable in the 21st century,” he emphasized.

The pledge forms part of Mahama’s broader development agenda to improve living conditions across the Northern and Savannah regions, with a focus on community-led and inclusive growth.
