Member of Parliament for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo, Adelaide Ntim, has urged Parliament and the government to honour the memory of the late Hilife legend Daddy Lumba.

According to the MP, the deceased should be remembered by preserving his legacy and not just through mourning his passing with tears.

The MP made the call while addressing the House during a tribute session in Parliament following the passing of the iconic musician.

“Let us remember Charles Kwadwo Fosu not just with tears, but with pride for the gift he was to our nation,” she stated.

The lawmaker also called for the creation of sustainable initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting Daddy Lumba’s musical legacy for the benefit of future generations.

She also appealed to the Honourable House and the government to consider awarding national honours to the late icon, including a state-assisted funeral, as a fitting tribute to his contributions to Ghanaian music.

In a related development, a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Ellen Ama Daaku, proposed that the government declare a national holiday in honour of the late Hilife legend.

“But in my opinion, I suggest that the day of his final funeral be declared a public holiday in addition to the state burial. That’s just my suggestion.

“Also, a musical show should be held in a fully packed Baba Yara and Accra Sports stadium respectively, to honour him, for he has paid his dues to the nation,” she added when applauding President John Mahama’s decision to give Lumba a state burial.
