Mahama’s achievements in 4 months surpass Akuffo-Addo’s 8 years-Haruna Mohammed

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asunafo North, Haruna Mohammed, has claimed that the achievements of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo during his eight years in power cannot be compared to the accomplishments of the current administration led by President John Dramani Mahama, which has only been in office for four months.

During an appearance on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, hosted by Saddick Adams, Hon. Haruna emphasised that President Mahama’s decisive actions have ushered in significant progress and development for the nation.

He highlighted key achievements such as the scrapping of the E-levy, the reduction of the dollar to stabilise the cedi, cocoa production, and the elimination of various nuisance taxes that had burdened Ghanaians.

In stark contrast, Hon. Haruna accused former President Akuffo-Addo of neglecting essential issues such as debt restructuring and other significant levies that weighed heavily on the populace.

He claimed that the nation experienced a state of retrogression until the new government assumed power.

Furthermore, Hon. Haruna acknowledged the remarkable strides made by President Mahama in just four months, asserting that the former president took eight years to accomplish similar feats.

“You can’t compare Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo’s two terms in power to President John Mahama’s few months in government. Citizens are praising His Excellency Mahama and his appointees for the turnaround in just 120 days.

“Moreover, we have yet to recover from the pain, agony, and suffering that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led us through. By the time we have exhausted the four-year term given to us democratically, things will be at their best, and citizens will feel proud to be Ghanaians.

“I am stating this with authority: the previous administration did nothing to merit recognition. What we are witnessing now is the result of the proper measures laid down by the John Dramani Mahama-led government. We will remain resolute and serve the good people of Ghana,” he concluded.
