The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, is  urging the Inspector-General of Police to ensure that personnel to he deployed for the by-election in Akwatia conduct themselves professionally.

The Electoral Commission has scheduled the by-election for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

As part of preparations for the election, the NPP on Wednesday, July 30, held a delegates’ conference and campaign launch at Boadua to officially unveil its candidate for the by-election, Solomon Kwame Asumadu.

Speaking at the conference, Nana B emphasized that the IGP must implement strict and punitive security measures to guarantee a peaceful, incident-free election in Akwatia.

According to him, the party does not want a repeat of the violence and brutalities that occurred during the Ablekuma North by-election, where some NPP members were assaulted and beaten.

He warned that if the necessary protection is not provided by the security services, the party would take steps to defend itself.
