The Political Assistant to Alan Kyeremateng, Nana Yaw Sarpong, has launched a scathing critique of the previous administration led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, regarding the much-touted 10,000-kilometre road project.

During an appearance on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Mr. Sarpong raised significant concerns about the effectiveness and transparency surrounding the project.

He demanded that the former government provide comprehensive data and statistics to substantiate their claims.

“The former government’s handling of the 10,000-kilometre road project is a matter of public concern,” he asserted.

Mr. Sarpong emphasised that Ghanaians have a right to know essential details, including the project’s cost, the specific locations of the roads, the contractors involved, and the benefits derived from the initiative.

“You cannot come to space and credit yourself on 10,000 kilometres of roads without a clear database,” he remarked, underscoring the necessity for accountability.

In addition, Mr. Sarpong advised the current Road Minister, Kwame Governs Agboza, to initiate a national dialogue focused on the re-engineering of the country’s road infrastructure.

He stated that addressing this issue is crucial for enhancing transportation systems in Ghana.

“Our road infrastructure is a vital step toward improving the country’s transportation capabilities.

“We must introduce sustainable funding sources for road construction and maintenance, as this is a fundamental aspect of developing Ghana’s infrastructure,” he asserted.

Furthermore, Mr. Sarpong urged the former government and the previous Road Minister to release a detailed database on the projects, encompassing contracts, budgets, and timelines.

“Furthermore, the data is necessary to assess the project’s impact and determine whether it was a worthwhile investment,” he concluded, reinforcing the call for transparency and accountability in governance.
