The Board Chairman of ABN Group of Companies, Nana Dr. Dankanwoso Appiagyei I, has called on Ghanaians to embrace unity and understanding as the foundation for national development.

He highlighted collaboration as paramount to building the kind of nation all citizens aspire to.

“Let us all work together in unity and understanding to develop Ghana,” he advised.

Nana Dr. Dankanwoso Appiagyei I made the appeal while addressing the fourth biennial conference of the Northern Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church Choir.

Speaking further, he expressed optimism about the country’s direction under President John Dramani Mahama and prayed for divine guidance for him and all Parliamentarians in fulfilling their mandate.

“So far, so good. May God be with him and all Parliamentarians. For the first seven months, I can say that he is currently on track, and I pray that he will continue in the same direction,” he said.

Nana Appiagyei I thus observed that “However, one thing I’m worried about is the Rambo-style arrest of former government appointees. There are laws, so I believe we should allow the law to take its due course on individuals who have committed an offense.”

Touching on the recent demolition of private facilities, Nana Dankanwoso emphasized the need for alternative solutions.

“Also, the demolition of facilities is very disturbing, and I believe they can be acquired by the state and used for other purposes or to provide accommodations instead of demolishing them, because we can all attest to the high cost of building. They can also serve as accommodations for government workers.”

He further encouraged President Mahama not to lose sight of its objectives, quoting scripture and urging introspection from his erstwhile administration in his term as President.

“So I urge him not to stray from the right path he has taken. He shouldn’t be discouraged by anything but should be reminded that ‘A good name is better than riches’ (Proverbs 22:1).

“…Given that he [President Mahama] has had a second opportunity in his second coming, he should realize God gave it to him, so he should reflect on his flaws during his first term and correct them. As he has started, so should he continue, so that in the near future he will be remembered for good governance that it was during his era that things worked out perfectly for the country,” the ABN Board Chairman urges.
