Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, dies

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has officially announced the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The announcement was made on August 11, 2025, during a meeting of the Asanteman Council, where the King informed chiefs and elders of the Queen’s death.

Following the announcement, the chiefs extended their condolences to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III was also the Asantehene’s biological sister.

In line with Asante tradition, a one-week traditional rite will be observed at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

About Nana Konadu Yiadom III

Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the eldest of five children of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, the thirteenth Asantehemaa. She was born in 1927 in Benyaade, a town in Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region.

Though, she did not receive formal education, historian Professor Osei Bonsu Safo-Kantanka has stated that her informal education was equivalent to formal schooling, reflecting her deep knowledge and wisdom
