President John Dramani Mahama has launched a Children’s Support Fund to provide a long-term care and support for the children of the eight individuals who lost their lives in the August 6 helicopter crash.

Speaking at the state burial of the victims on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Independence Square, he noted that the initiative has kick-started at Stanbic Bank with a GH¢500,000 seed contribution.

“I wish to thank Stanbic, which has opened an account with an initial contribution of GH¢500,000, the government will make an immediate seed contribution to this Fund and will operationalise and publish a detailed framework of the Children’s Support Fund within the next 30 days,” he said.

He explained that the funds will provide comprehensive support for the beneficiaries, covering their education from primary school to university or technical training, as well as other specialized living expenses.

The fund, President Mahama promised, will be maintained through annual public accountability and will be receptive to donations from the public and global partners.
