The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that first-year students in all second cycle institutions are to report to school on October 18, 2025, to begin the 2025/2026 academic year.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Service and signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of Schools and Instructions Division, on behalf of the Acting Director-General.

“The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform Heads of all Second Cycle Institutions of the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar. Reporting date for first-year students (Single Track and Transitional Schools) is 18th October, 2025,” the statement said.

GES explained that the academic calendar, which includes key term dates and holidays, has been outlined to guide schools in planning and running the academic year smoothly.

“Regional Directors are kindly requested to disseminate the attached Academic Calendar to all Heads of Second Cycle Institutions under your jurisdiction, and ensure that Heads strictly adhere to the calendar to guarantee consistency and smooth implementation across all schools,” the statement added.

The Service further urged Regional Directors to provide the necessary monitoring and support to Heads of Schools in executing the calendar.

“The Service counts on your usual cooperation to ensure effective teaching and learning in our institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year,” it stated.
