New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has claimed he was the chief financier behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign in 2023.

According to him, he personally funded the former Vice President’s bid to realize his ambition of becoming the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 elections.

“I paid every single penny for him to become flagbearer of this party,” he alleged.

Dr. Acheampong explained that his financial support was directed toward the Eastern Region, where he claimed Dr. Bawumia “didn’t bring a penny into the Eastern Region” before the Presidential primaries.

He stated that each super delegate in the region received $1,500 from his own resources.

“All the constituency executives, everybody collected $1,500,” he said, reinforcing his claim.

He also recounted a conversation with President Akufo-Addo at a funeral in Kumasi, during which the President acknowledged him as “the single largest contributor” to his own rise to power.
