A presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ahead of the 2028 general elections, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, says he paid a handsome amount to each constituency executive in the Eastern Region to facilitate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s candidacy as the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 elections.

He alleged that every constituency executive in the Eastern Region received $1,500 as part of efforts to ensure Bawumia’s endorsement.

In a video that has surfaced online, he claimed that “I paid every single penny for him to become flagbearer of the party. Every constituency executive in the Eastern Region collected $1,500.”

“I paid every single penny for him to become flagbearer of the party,” he reiterated, emphasizing his role in the former vVice President’s presidential ambition.

The revelations come amid preparations for the NPP’s next electoral cycle, with the party setting January 31, 2026, as the date for the presidential primary ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The former Agriculture Minister, according to reports, is expected to file his nomination forms at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, August 27.
