The Head of Corporate Communications at the National Lottery Authority, Chris Dugan, has made mockery of the current state of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), likening it to “an empty bus without a driver.”

According to him, the party’s recent defeats in electoral contests reflect its unattractiveness to the public due to lack of leadership for a driven force.

“No Ghanaian will ever vote for the NPP again. The December 7th, 2024 elections were a clear indication that nobody was ready for their terror. The decision Ghanaians took was unprecedented.”

Mr. Dugan, according to him, the electoral outcome signaled a decisive shift in public sentiment toward the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“The overwhelming majority of Ghanaians decided to shift to the positive side, which is the NDC, Those who didn’t get the opportunity to join that majority intend to grab any subsequent opportunities through the electoral process and surely vote for the NDC,” he said speaking on Angel TV.

Using a vivid transport metaphor, Mr. Dugan compared the NDC to a “loading bus with a ready driver full of competence,” while portraying the NPP as a stranded vehicle with a loading boy.

“Nobody will want to join an empty bus. The NDC is an already moving bus that is full. But an empty bus where a loading boy is shouting and calling for people to board, who will join?” he asked.

He further emphasized the leadership vacuum within the NPP, stating, “As I speak to you now, the NPP has no leader.”

Dugan attributed the party’s decline to its choice of flagbearer in the 2024 elections, indicating they elected an incompetent candidate.

“Their woes started compounding when they presented what I describe as an incompetent apprentice of Akufo-Addo in Dr. Bawumia,” the vocal politician stated.

Mr. Dugan’s comments followed the NPP’s defeats in the recent by-elections at Ablekuma North and Akwatia.
