Backing vocalist, Yvonne Ohene Gyan, popularly known as She or The Voice Behind the Stars, has opened up about the first and biggest payment she ever received while working with the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.

Speaking in an interview on Angel Drive on Angel FM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Yvonne recalled how her dream of singing alongside Lumba turned into a memorable experience that also changed her finances.

“My biggest payment ever in my first time was Daddy Lumba’s Asieho song. He gave me 8 million cedis, and I used 2 million to buy a SIM card,” she revealed.

According to her, she had no idea what to charge when Lumba asked how much she wanted for her services. Out of admiration for the icon, she jokingly quoted a figure just to brush the question aside.

“He asked me how much I will take and I told him I don’t know he is my idol and I just wished to sing with him. Then I later told him I will take 8 million cedis, the old currency. I said that to push him away,” she explained.

Surprisingly, Daddy Lumba paid her the full amount, a gesture Yvonne says she will never forget.

“I started helping people with the money and used some at home too,” she added.
