A 24-year-old Pragya rider, Bernard, popularly known as critical, was shot and killed by unknown assailants in Sofokyere, a suburb of Berekum in the Bono Region.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday, September 14, 2025, while the deceased was working with a green tricycle registered M-25-BR(314).

The late Bernard is said to have picked up the attackers after they requested a ride to Sofokyere. Upon reaching the area, they allegedly shot him and fled the scene.

Residents who heard the gunshot rushed to the location and found him with severe head injuries. They immediately alerted the police and rushed to a nearby hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

The Assembly Member for Sofokyere, Aful Isaac, revealed that Bernard was a resident of Biadan, another suburb within the Berekum Municipality.

He added that this incident marks the third time such an attack has taken place in the area, sparking fear and panic among residents and Pragya riders in Berekum East.

The Chairman of the National Union of Tricycles of Ghana (NUTOG), Appiah Ramson, expressed concern over the recurring attacks on Pragya riders in Berekum East.
