The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), in collaboration with Commercial Transport Operators (CTO), has announced plans to stage a demonstration in Accra on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
The protest aims to draw attention to what the groups describe as the unlawful occupation of their land at the CMB Lorry Station by private businessmen.
In a press release issued on Monday, the leadership of GPRTU and CTO stated that the demonstration will culminate in the submission of a formal petition to the Presidency.
The petition demands government intervention to reclaim the disputed land, which the transport unions assert is rightfully theirs.
“The purpose of the demonstration is to bring attention to our plight and to demand that the government intervenes to resolve this matter,” the statement read. “We believe that it is our right to have access to this land, and we will not be silenced.”
The unions have extended an invitation to all concerned citizens to join the protest in solidarity, emphasizing the importance of collective action in seeking justice.
The statement was signed by key representatives of the transport unions, including Abass Ibrahim Moro, National P.R.O, GPRTU.
