Leslie Osei Bonsu selected as next Mamponghene

Leslie Osei Bonsu has been selected as an occupant of the silver stool of the Ashanti kingdom to become the next Mamponghene.

He has since been officially introduced to the royal family of Asante Mampong, which begins with a series of proceedings and preparations towards his enstoolment.

PROFILE

Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu is a royal of Asante Mampong Botaase royal family

He was born on 14 March 1974 in Kumasi. He lived his early life in Kumasi where he started his education at City of Kumasi Preparatory school where he had his common entrance and proceeded to Prempeh College where he studied for his Ordinary level with distinction proceeded with his Advanced level in the same school.

Leslie’s commitment to leadership began early as Assistant School Prefect at Prempeh College.

He holds first class in Bachelor of Science (Hons) Geomatic Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and later served as President of its Old Students Association (KNUST Chapter), he led alumni engagement initiatives, organized reunions, and championed career mentorship for students. These formative experiences laid the foundation for his inclusive, purpose-driven approach to team building and strategic planning.

He holds Master of Science Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (Distinction) from University of Twente – Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), Netherlands. He holds a second Masters in Science Computational Science and Engineering, Department of Informatics, Technical University of Munich, Germany (Gut Bestanden).

He is senior software architect and geospatial systems strategist with over two decades of experience leading complex software initiatives across Europe and Africa. With advanced degrees in Computational Science and Geo-Information Science, and a First Class B.Sc. in Geomatic Engineering, he brings a rare blend of technical depth, strategic foresight, and operational leadership. Currently serving as Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany, Leslie oversees multidisciplinary teams delivering ISO-compliant software solutions for spatial analysis, agricultural decision support, and secure identity management. His leadership spans project governance, infrastructure modernization, and cross-team coordination—driving alignment with evolving standards and regulatory frameworks.

Fluent in English, Twi, and German, and deeply rooted in the Botaase Royal Family of AsanteMampong, Leslie brings cultural depth and global perspective to every challenge. He is a certified Scrum Master and Product Owner, and a long-standing member of IEEE, ACM, and the IEEE Computer Society. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence, mentorship, and meaningful impact—making him not just a builder of systems, but a builder of people and purpose.
