NSMQ 2025: MP for Akuapem South hails Aburi Girls SHS quarter finals success

The Member of Parliament for Akuapem South in the Eastern Region, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, has lauded the performance of Aburi Girls’ Senior High School following their qualification to the quarter-finals of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

According to her, the school’s achievement marks a historic moment in this year’s competition, as Aburi Girls stands as the only girls institution to reach the quarter-final stage.

The lawmaker’s commendation comes after her alma mater secured a spot in the next round of the prestigious academic contest.

Aburi Girls’ SHS qualified with 56 points, ahead of Apam SHS with 46 points and Konongo Odumase SHS with 44 points in their Round of 16 contest.

They have been drawn against Accra Academy and Opoku Ware School in their quarter-final fixture scheduled for Saturday, November 1.

Madam Dziwornu congratulated her alma mater and stated that everyone is proud of their performance.

“We are proudly the only girls’ school to qualify for the quarter-finals of this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz.”

She further expressed pride in the team’s performance, describing their journey as a reflection of the school’s enduring legacy of excellence.

“As an old student and proud Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, I am deeply impressed by the exceptional performance and determination of our girls.

“To our girls once again, all of AOGA and indeed the entire nation are watching with pride, believing in your brilliance to uphold the enduring Aburi Girls’ tradition of excellence,” she added in a statement.

Reflecting on the upcoming contest, Madam Dziwornu encouraged the team to remain focused and push forward to the semi-finals, asserting that victory beckons the great institution.

“Unto the next, the victory is ours,” she affirmed in her statement.
