The Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu Constituency, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has appointed Hon Alhaji Zubairu Kassim as Senior Political Advisor responsible for Constituency Affairs, effective today.

This appointment represents a deliberate and calculated investment in leadership excellence, bringing to the Minority Leader’s inner circle a respected public servant whose career trajectory exemplifies the intersection of technical competence, political discernment, and a firm commitment to democratic governance.

Significantly, the Minority Leader and Hon Kassim share a deep history of collaborative governance rooted in their shared commitment to the people of Effutu. As MP for Effutu Constituency, Mr Afenyo-Markin worked closely with Hon Kassim during his tenure (2021-2025) as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), forging a productive partnership that delivered tangible development outcomes for the Municipality.

This proven synergy and mutual understanding of Effutu’s developmental priorities, built over years of joint service, adds a critical dimension of trust, shared vision, and operational familiarity to this appointment.

Beyond the public sector, Hon Kassim has demonstrated versatility and adaptability through senior management roles in private enterprise, where he drove operational excellence and pioneered process improvements that enhanced organisational performance and stakeholder value.

Hon Kassim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from the University of Cape Coast and earned a Certificate in Logistics Management from the University of Ghana Business School.

Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Procurement and Supply Chain Management at the University of Education, Winneba, positioning himself at the cutting edge of public sector efficiency and resource optimisation.

The Minority Leader’s appointment of Hon Kassim reflects a sophisticated understanding that effective parliamentary opposition in Ghana’s Fourth Republic requires strategic thinking, operational excellence, institutional memory, and the capacity to translate political vision into actionable policy alternatives.

According to the statement, Hon Kassim precisely brings these attributes: a rare combination of grassroots political intelligence, administrative expertise, supply chain and logistics mastery, and a demonstrated ability to navigate complex political terrain while maintaining focus on the public interest.

As Hon Kassim assumes his responsibilities, the Office of the Minority Leader is poised to benefit from his counsel, experience, and political acumen.

According to the statement, His appointment will strengthen the institutional capacity of the Minority Caucus and reaffirm its commitment to excellence in legislative representation and democratic accountability.

The Minority Leader has expressed supreme confidence in Hon Kassim’s ability to contribute meaningfully to the strategic objectives of his office and the broader aspirations of Ghanaians, who demand competent, responsive, and visionary leadership.
