Chiefs urged to foster development and unity at Kundum Festival

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, Armah Kofi Buah, has urged chiefs to promote development and unity to drive progress, peace, and harmony in their communities.

Speaking at the 2025 Kundum Festival, held in Benin within the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region, Mr. Buah stressed that development thrives when traditional leaders and political authorities collaborate effectively.

He reaffirmed that, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, the government remains committed to reaching out to communities through the Big Push Initiative.

This programme, he noted, is designed to tackle poor road conditions nationwide, with a particular focus on the Nzema areas, including Nzema East, Ellembelle, and Jomoro.

“To urge all to achieve and push for unity and peace, and when there’s peace, that is where we will be strengthened, then development follows.

“So we’re development actors and I am very happy that all the chiefs are gathered today in the spirit of unity, and I will continue to support them for the development of our area,” Mr. Buah stated.

For his part, the Deputy Minister for Transport and Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo Toffey, noted that Jomoro is ready for a new phase of growth under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) development agenda.
