The police has arrested two individuals in connection with a robbery and carjacking incident that occurred at Mpatasie near St. Anthony Hospital in the Ashanti Region.

In a release issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the CID, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Issaka Jamal (30 years) and Kwadwo Badu (40 years) were apprehended after a police operation along the Ofankor-St. John’s stretch of the Accra-Nsawam Highway.

The suspects were attempting to flee when they were caught, with one sustaining a gunshot wound and the other suffering minor injuries, it noted.

Both are currently receiving treatment at the Police Hospital.

According to the police, preliminary investigations reveal the suspects, along with accomplices, attacked occupants of an unregistered silver Hyundai Tucson (DV-5357-Z) at Mpatasie on November 7, 2025.

The victims were robbed of GHC120,000, three mobile phones, identity cards, work tools, and other personal belongings before the vehicle was stolen.

The police operation led to the recovery of the stolen Hyundai Tucson, GHC5,900 in cash, a customized number plate marked “Congo-1-24,” and other exhibits.

The recovered items are being held at the Police Headquarters as investigations continue to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The GPS reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations to ensure those involved in robbery are brought to justice.
