Pastor condemns noisy prayers, urges Christians to pray with reverence

Head of Ever True Church, Pastor Ernest Asiedu Alao-Caesar, has cautioned Christians against conducting noisy and disruptive prayer gatherings, describing the practice as “highly unbiblical”.

Speaking during a recent address, he emphasized that authentic Christian prayer should be rooted in reverence, reflection, and love for one’s neighbour, rather than loud display or public disturbance.

Pastor Asiedu stressed that prayer should never become a nuisance to the community, citing the need for people to rest, work, and engage in productive activities without disturbance.

“The people in our neighbourhoods need peace of mind and quietness to engage in productive activities; some may be attending online classes or examinations, others may be resting after long hours of work.

“With the rise of remote work, it’s amazing what people now do from home; we must not be a disservice to our communities in the name of prayer,” said.

He cited an example of Jesus, who often withdrew to lonely places to pray and urged believers to emulate this practice.

He advised against equating loudness with spiritual power, saying, “It is not how loud or how much you scream that will make the Father answer, in reality, you have already received your reward as a showman.”

Pastor Alao-Caesar also appealed to church leaders and denominational heads to address the issue of noise pollution within their congregations, reiterating the need for peaceful coexistence with their communities.

He lamented the confrontations that arise from excessive noise, describing them as “shameful” especially when some believers conclude that neighbours who complain are “witches or wizards” resisting their prayers.

He further reminded Christians that prayer is essential, but it must be done with understanding and restraint.

“We can pray without opening the  too loud; it can be within the confines of the church; I urge you to pray so you don’t become a prey,” he emphasized.

The pastor’s remarks have sparked a call for Christians to reevaluate their approach to prayer and prioritize reverence, reflection, and love for their neighbours.
