The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem South, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, has paid homage to traditional leaders in the Akuapem South Constituency.

The leaders she visited include Nana Baah Abu Okae IV, the Aburi Kurowura, Akuapem Oseawuo and Agonahene, at his sacred ground in Aburi, as well as Otoobour Djan Kwasi II, Aburihene and Akuapem Adontenhene, at his palace in Nsakye.

Madam Dziwornu embarked on the visit as part of the celebration of this year’s Akwasidae, during which she paid homage to the chiefs.

According to her, the gesture was to seek continued blessings and support from traditional leaders in the area, the same medium through which she became MP.

“Last year, I visited these revered Chiefs as a Parliamentary Candidate. With their blessings and prayers, I now return as Member of Parliament.

“I used the occasion to express my gratitude for their prayers and to seek their continued support as we serve our constituency,” she highlighted.

In a sign of respect, as customs and traditions demand, the MP donated items to the distinguished Akuapem Adonten Chiefs in preparation for the forthcoming Aburi Odwira Festival.

She seized the opportunity to extend an invitation to the indigenes of Aburiman and friends to join the celebration of the festival.

“This year’s Aburi Odwira promises to be a memorable experience,” Madam Dziwornu assures and added that preparations were well underway to make the celebration iconic.

The 2025 Aburi Odwira Festival celebrates the 37th anniversary of Otoobour Djan Kwasi II as Aburihene and Adontenhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area.

The Grand Durbar will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, as part of the long period of celebration that commenced on November 8.
